icipe is an intergovernmental organisation funded by government aid agencies, UN organisations and private foundations to carry out research and training in environmentally sound and sustainable management of arthropods for improving health and agricultural productivity in the tropics. icipe has approximately 300 staff to support its research and capacity building programmes, located at various sites in Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan.
icipe requires the services of a young and dynamic Junior Accountant based at Duduville campus who will report to the General Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key activities among other things;
- Maintaining asset information in the asset registers and provide advice on asset management
- Ensuring transactions into the Fixed Asset Control module and General Ledger are properly recorded and that balances are accurate and reconciled
- Preparing and monitoring icipe’s capital expenditure report and be involved in capital expenditure planning process
- Planning and coordinating the physical verification of fixed assets
- Participate in the fixed asset disposal process
- Reviewing of icipe’s assets for damage.
- Bachelor of Commerce degree from a recognised university plus at least CPA II
- A minimum of 2 years working experience in a busy commercial environment or an international organisation, on general accounting ledger, and financial reporting
- Must be computer literate with excellent working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets
- Must be able to use Sun accounting package
- Knowledge and proficiency in finance/accounting principles
- Be organised and possess ability to multi-task
- Good interpersonal skills are necessary.
