Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Associate Registration Officer and the overall supervision of the Registration Officer in Dadaab, the Registration Assistant will be tasked with the following functions:
(i) Participate in all Registration related activities: Information campaign, scheduling, reception and screening of asylum-seekers and refugees, multi-functional team activities;
(ii) Conduct registration interviews at all stages of registration (new registration, continuous registration, verification), including nationality screening interviews, litigation interviews, vulnerability assessment interviews, and other specialized interviews as may be required by various UNHCR technical units;
(iii) Capture biometrics data (digital photos and fingerprints) of asylum seekers and refugees into ProGres;
(iv) Ensure constant and accurate upkeep of data (physical and electronic) to reflect status of persons of concern by checking that all ProGres data fields are filled in properly. Manage and update refugee files as necessary;
(v) Issuance/maintenance of UNHCR and GoK documentation: ID documents, Ration Cards, Referrals, and lost/stolen cards replacements;
(vi) Compile periodic registration statistical reports and circulate them to all concerned parties, including external parties. Analyze data to ensure data quality and integrity, and report trends and issues as required;
(vii) Produce manifests/list for food and non-food items distribution exercises, voluntary repatriation and other programme activities;
(viii) Liaise with operational, implementing, and government partners on all registration-related activities, as required;
(ix) Perform any other duty, as requested.
Qualifications:
Knowledge and Skills: Completion of Secondary School education at the ‘O’ level. Computer literate: conversation with computer software/program design, specifically electronic database programs.
Desirable: A degree/diploma in Computer Sciences/IT would be an added advantage.
Language: Fluency in English and Kiswahili is essential. Knowledge of Somali would be an asset.
