Assistant Project Officer at I Choose Life-Africa (ICL) in Kenya

I Choose Life-Africa (ICL) is an NGO which carries out HIV and AIDS prevention, care and support intervention among in school youth (primary, high school and higher learning), out of school youth, general population and MARPS.

The organization is seeking to recruit a full time staff based in Nairobi on a six months contract to fill the
job position of Assistant Project Officer.

The Assistant Project Officer will ensure effective management of the project resources, implementation of program activities, and compiling of project monthly financial reports. The specific tasks of the officer include the following:

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the Implementation of the structural intervention component
  • Conduct training on entrepreneurship
  • Carry out Business support services
  • Organize Business exchange visits
  • Organize monthly feedback and sharing of best practices meeting among MARPS
  • Conduct GBV sensitization activities
  • Conduct stigma and discrimination reduction outreaches
  • Conduct alcohol and drug reduction outreaches
Monitoring and evaluation
  • Ensuring regional staff report on project activities
  • Ensuring compliance to reporting guidelines
  • Consolidating regional weekly and monthly progress reports
Training and Development
  • Ensure the training policy is applied during trainings
  • Spearhead development of EE training manual
  • Ensure pre-training and post-training procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure training reports are written
Initiation of sustainability concept
  • Initiation of sustainability concepts
  • Seek for corporate partnership/sponsorship in project implementation
  • Participate in proposal/concept writing
Required Qualifications, Competencies and Skills
  • A Bachelors Degree in a Social Science or related field
  • Knowledge in Social entrepreneurship development will be an added advantage
  • At least 2 years experience working in economic empowerment project
  • Experience in designing economic empowerment projects
  • Ability to conduct entrepreneurial skills training for youths and MARPs
  • Ability to empower the MARPs socio-economically
  • Training development, and facilitation skills
  • Knowledge in MFI operations
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, mentorship, and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills with profound analytical skills and excellent team-building skills.
  • Computer Literate
