Save the Children Somalia/Somaliland Programme has been working in Central & South Somalia, Puntland and Somaliland for over 40 years. Our focus of work includes improving access to healthcare, education and food provision to children and their families.

Millions of people across East Africa are currently experiencing serious food insecurity, and children are among the worst affected. The cause of this emergency is not just the lack of rain but a combination of underlying factors. Save the Children is committed to providing immediate humanitarian relief to people in need as we are to working with affected communities, governments and the international community to find solutions to the underlying problems of this crisis. We are currently recruiting for 3 positions:

DEPUTY AREA REPRESENTATIVE (Reference DAR100) – 6 months based in Nairobi

This role will be to lead, manage and guide the development, coordination, implementation, monitoring and reporting of Save the Children’s activities in Central South Somalia. The post holder will lead, manage and motivate technical coordinators, ensuring they have clear objectives and receive meaningful feedback on their performance.

Person Specification
  • Significant experience of managing large humanitarian programmes including representation at a senior level.
  • Previous experience of managing and developing diversified teams and the ability to lead and motivate others.
  • You will need an in-depth understanding of emergency issues, particularly in relation to children.
