The Procurement Officer is responsible for ensuring that all the company procurement processes are carried out in line with the Public Procurement & Disposal Act & Regulations while observing the best procurement practice.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Overseeing the procurement processes and procedures to ensure compliance with the Public Procurement Act and Regulations
- Formulating and implementing supplies and stores policies including effective stock control systems
- Procuring required goods at the most competitive and economical prices
- Ensuring timely delivery of goods
- Conducting boarding and disposal of unserviceable and/or other stores
- Ensuring prompt payment of suppliers
- Maintaining updated lists of qualified and approved Suppliers
- Participating in annual budget preparation
- Preparing and initiating annual procurement plans
- Supervising, appraising staff and identifying their training and development needs
- Maintaining accurate records
- Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications
- A Bachelors degree in Purchasing and/or Supplies, Economics, Commerce, or related discipline
- At least 3 years working experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of the Public Procurement Act and Regulations
- Proficiency in computer applications
