SUMMARY SCOPE OF WORK:

Danya Africa is currently leading high impact behavior change communication, information communication technology and monitoring and evaluation interventions in public health and food security. The Deputy Regional Director will work together with the Regional Director to provide program management and implementation oversight for all of Danya’s initiatives in the region. In addition to programmatic responsibilities, this position will also support all business development initiatives for the growing organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership
  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for Danya’s current and future programs
  • Responsible for managing local project teams across multiple projects to ensure high impact results
  • Lead multiple business development initiatives to support growth of the organization
  • Represent Danya before stakeholders and oversee implementation of activities throughout the Africa region
  • Contribute to annual work planning
  • Establish and maintain a productive relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, government officials, NGOs and community based organizations
  • Work collaboratively with Africa regional project team members and US-based headquarters to ensure necessary program planning, development, resource availability and management activities function smoothly and efficiently
Management
  • Manage multiple local project staff across multiple countries to ensure on time, high-quality deliverables and assure proper financial projections, reporting, spending and compliance with project terms and conditions.
  • Promote and support the dissemination of best practices among the project teams
  • Contribute to timely, accurate and appropriate reporting of program activities and results to the donor, including progress reports, and annual reports
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Graduate degree in international development, public health, agriculture or other related field
  • A minimum of 8+ years of senior level international development experience with at least three in Africa
  • Demonstrated experience managing public health or food security projects of over $1,000,000 US per year in the Africa region
  • Successful management of large USAID and or CDC funded programs
  • Proven track record of resource mobilization with USAID or CDC
  • Experience developing successful, replicable and sustainable projects
  • Expertise in research to practice – identifying best practices and adapting them to program realities
  • A team player accustomed to building team capacity, delegating working teams, and developing communities of learning among host country partners and counterparts
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills
  • Strong change management, results oriented and decision making skills
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience and understanding of Global Health Initiative and Feed the Future frameworks
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally

Overview:
Nuru’s Community Economic Development (CED) Fellow will be using and maintaining information systems to manage performance and operations of a rural microcredit and savings program serving two to three thousand clients in remote, agricultural communities. Specific Skills and Attributes (in addition to the General Requirements for the Nuru Fellows Program):
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, or International Development; MBA preferred.
  • Experience working with management information systems (experience with Mifos MIS strongly preferred).
  • Formal data management experience, solid quantitative skills, and advanced level experience with Excel.
  • At least 2 years operational field experience in microfinance organization (rural credit cooperatives or microsavings and microcredit institutions preferred). Masters degree in a related field or 2-3 years relevant experience in data management can be substituted for less microfinance field experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of project management, preferably in an international setting.
  • Prior experience living and working in the developing world strongly preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

Job Summary:

Reporting to Regional Manager, Eastern, the Area Manager will be responsible and accountable for all aspects of Area/Cluster programming, in particular: high quality contract deliverables / compliance; reports preparation and conceptual strategic leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate CBO/Federation development and timely submission of project proposals and work-plans
  • Ensure Cluster/Area project compliance with National Office/donor contracts by way of planning, implementation, field monitoring visits and compiling of quality narrative and financial reports
  • Ensure all the affiliate CBO projects adhere to the organisation’s programming principles; procurement, administrative and financial policies
  • Monitor project to pro-actively identify risks related to contract compliance and prescribe, implement and manage corrective action
  • Ensure timely submission of progress reports that meet the organizations/donor requirements, as stipulated in the contract.
  • Build and foster good relations between ChildFund Kenya, other NGOs, and GOK in order to enhance ChildFund, Kenya image, visibility and access to information resources.
  • Enhance effective communication at all levels between the Cluster/Area staff, within the projects areas, National office and other partner agencies
  • Participate in the relevant District/County Child Protection, Development Policy & Advocacy formulation forums.
  • Represent and speak for ChildFund Kenya in forums/matters related to Child Protection & Development within the Cluster/Projects areas of operation.
  • Ensure adequate program and project Design/Planning, Monitoring, Implementation and Evaluation within his area of jurisdiction.
  • To lead, manage and motivate Programme teams, ensuring that they have clear objectives and receive meaningful feedback on their performance
  • Ensure the capacity of ChildFund Area staff and partners is developed as appropriate in institutional and organizational development, technical themes relevant to the program and project cycle management skills (project identification and design, project implementation, project evaluation and learning), etc.
  • Ensure that systems are structured and staffed appropriately to maintain effective and efficient management and use of all resources including financial resources, transport, supplies and capital assets in line with ChildFund Kenya policies and guidelines
  • Being the budget holder, should ensure effective financial and budgetary control of all budgets.
Requirements:
  • Degree level qualification in Development studies or Social Sciences with a minimum 3 years experience in Programme Design, Implementation & donor contract management
  • Demonstrated experience implementing programs with Community Based Organizations
  • Team Player with excellent communication and community mobilization skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision
  • High level of credibility and integrity

The BecA-ILRI Hub seeks to recruit a Communications Officer to develop and implement its communication strategy and to provide communications support to research scientists and technical support staff at the Hub. Responsibilities:

Work Context
Cesvi is active in Kenya in Nairobi's surroundings with a project supporting children affected by disabilities and in Dadaab camp with a project financed by Italian cooperation on SWM and abattoirs' rehabilitation. Ultimately we are starting in Dadaab with some projects focused on primary emergency in order to face the drought affecting the entire Africa Horn. The current project aims to achieve mainly 3 goals:
  • Strenghten and support government of Kenya, local authorities and No-state actors in preventing and combating WFCL;
  • Creation of CSR and public and private public partnership to fight worst forms of CL in Embakasi, Kasarani, Njiru, Suba, Siaya, and Kisumu districts;
  • Ensure Children participation in addressing Child labour issues at national and local level.
Job Description
The Project Coordinator will have the following responsibilities:
  • general coordination, technical direction and activities supervision;
  • project implementation as per approved proposal;
  • administrative and financial supervision;
  • monitoring and evaluation of all the activities carried out directly from Cesvi and/or the other implementing partner.

Reporting to the ICT Coordinator, the ICT Officer will provide technical support in Information Technology to staff in Dadaab by analyzing, installing, establishing, maintenance, usage and update of new technology and Software for data processing and communication, design, develop and maintain Computer networks, trouble shooting and providing preventive maintenance services on the ICT equipment. The incumbent will maintain inventory of ICT equipment for Dadaab Main Office, Ifo, Dagahley and Hagadera camps.

Job summary:
Reporting to the ICT Coordinator, the ICT Office will provide technical support in Information Technology to staff in Dadaab by analyzing, installing, establishing, maintenance, usage and update of new technology and Software for data processing and communication

Responsibilities and Tasks:
  • Ensure Network Availability 24/7
  • Work with the supervisor to design, develop and maintain Computer networks.
  • Ensure computer security, antivirus and apply patches on operating systems and office applications
  • Trouble shooting and providing preventive maintenance services on the ICT equipment for Dadaab DMO and Camps
  • Work with ICT t coordinator to evaluate the ICT systems on a continuous basis
  • Provide technical advisory services in relation to new or appropriate technology for office use through guidance by supervisor.
  • Maintain inventory of ICT equipment for DMO, Ifo, Dagahaley and Hagardera camps.
  • Liaise with procurement on ICT equipment repair, raise PRs for approvals by ict coordinator
  • Deliver and ensure customer service to all Users
  • Provide technical support for staff in the use of computers, software and other communication of the equipment
  • Providing support in the use of ICT equipment for presentations
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware at Dadaab DMO and Camps
  • Help in giving specifications for new ICT equipments to be purchased for Dadaab field Office and camps
  • Advice users on IT best practice on issues of ICT equipment, internet and email usage
  • Identify ICT equipments that needs replacements
  • Liaise with supervisor in developing new approaches to helpdesk support to improve delivery of such services.
Database Management & Administration
  • Maintain high availability on the client side for Scala database systems and Internet/Intranet/Email to users
  • Provide backup support to Financial Systems (Scala) and other major databases.
  • Run systems off-line information back-ups and manage the off-site storage.
  • Responsible for Scala user creations, access controls and ensures data integrity and maximum uptime
  • Develop suitable training areas for users and provide the same in small clusters of 3-4 users due to the nature of work at RAP.
  • Training staff on need basis on the various relevant ICT applications
  • Work with the ict coordinator to identify and prepare annual training calendar
  • Prepare training manuals and guidelines and IT Tips to users.
  • Work with ict coordinator to find best ways to disseminate training materials to users.
Work with the ICT Coordinator in Administration of
  • V-SAT (Back stopping V-Sat technical problems in liaison with the internet service providers and Monitor bandwidth utilization using bandwidth monitoring devices in place. Perform Security Management of firewalls and routers)
  • Mail Server (Create and delete users on the Mail server, give rights to Staff to access shared resources on LAN, perform a daily data backup for Staff Mail Database and shared folders.)
  • Any other duty assigned by supervisor whenever applicable, the holder is required to perform any other job related to his work.
  • Work with the ICT Coordinator in maintaining data storage and security for the organization
  • Ensure mail system, financial, program and support data backups are done daily.
  • Liaise with the supervisor to ensure accessibility of all key services 24/7 to the Rap programme.
  • Work with supervisor to ensure integrity of all program data.

Working Conditions:
The position is based at Dadaab Main Office (DMO) with frequent movements to Hagadera, Ifo and Dagahaley camps as well as any other extension camps and program sites. This is a none-family working station. Hot weather is prevalent throughout the year with limited basic amenities. Road movement to and from work station to Garissa as well as inter-camp movement must be under police escort (Scheduled convoys). The incumbent must strictly adherence to security instructions all the time. It is a six days work station with a compensatory time off according to CTO policy. The incumbent may to travel to Nairobi office occasionally to perform official responsibilities as will be required

The incumbent shall reside in the CARE compound while executing official duties and shall obey and adhere to residential compound regulations.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology
  • 3 years working experience in an IT positions in a busy environment
  • A+ certificate is an added advantage
  • Competencies: Able to work under harsh, risk and extreme conditions, good judgment and problem solver
  • Good planning and organizing abilities
  • Able to make sound decisions and under pressure.
